Calipers & Tapes
Scroll Down For Caliper‘s
Calipers will work by pulling subcutaneous body fat, that being fat directly beneath the skin, away from the muscle using tongs. Several different sites on the body are predetermined in order to measure the thickness of the pinch (body fat) that is created by the calipers. In order to gauge progress you can simply consider the thickness of the pinch, or could use a special equation in order to measure body fat percentage.Caliper testing relys on the thought that 50% of body fat lies just beneath the skin and the rest is distributed all over the body surrounding the organs and other sites. When measuring body fat using calipers there are three main sites on both men and women that need to be tested. On men you need to test using the calpiers on the chest, on the abdominal, and on the thigh. With women the locations will be different, and the testing will be done on the triceps, waist, and thigh. These different areas are commonly used in order to measure body fat and the results that are given would give you a fairly clear indication of what your percentage levels are.
